The island of Yeu

An island to discover by bike, everything is well marked, you will find on the south side, from the point of crows to the point of the goal, the wild part “classified natural site” which reminds us the Celtic lands of Brittany or Ireland.

You will find the Old Castle overlooking the cliffs, but also the very pretty Port de la Meule dominated by the emblematic Notre Dame de Bonne Nouvelle chapel housing some fishing boats!

On the other side, you will find the dune coast, dominated by maritime pines that remind us of the Vendée coast! You can take your naps listening to the sound of the waves, … . And admire the continent!

The activity of the port is still very dynamic, you can see many fish, sea bass, burbot, sole, turbot, sea bream, hake ….

Are organized on the island: The Tuna Festival and the Flower Festival!

To get there you have two landing stages, at Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, easier from the campsite, but also from Fromentine…. Bicycle, scooter and mehari rental companies are available upon arrival at the port ….

The Ile d’Yeu is a lively, friendly land, deeply marked by the call of the sea which bewitches all those who, one day, have chosen to drop anchor there, even if only for a moment.
