An island to be discovered on a bicycle, everything is well indicated, you will find on the south side, from the point of the “Corbeaux” to the point of the “But”, the iconic wildlife area “classified, natural sites” which reminds one of the Celtic lands of Brittany or Ireland.
You will discover the Old Castle overlooking the cliffs, but also the very pretty Port de la Meule dominated by the emblematic chapel of Notre Dame de Bonne Nouvelle that houses a few fishing boats!
On the other side, you will find the dune coast, dominated by maritime pines, which reminds us of the Vendée coast! You can relax, listening to the sound of the waves…. Whilst admiring the continent in the distance!
The port activity is still very dynamic, you will be able to see there, a great variety of fish such as sea bass, monkfish, sole, turbot, sea bream, hake….
Organised on the island: The Tuna Festival, and the Flower Festival!
To get there you have two piers, at Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, easier access from the campsite, but also from Fromentine…. Rental of bicycles, scooters, or even Meharis are available on arrival at the port….
The island of l’Ile d’Yeu is a lively, friendly land, deeply marked by the call of the ocean which captivates all those who love it, who have, one day or another, chosen to anchor there if only for a moment.
