The island of Noirmoutier and the passage of the Gois

Classified very recently as a ” Site of National Interest and Heritage “, the passage of the Gois connects the continent to the island of Noirmoutier at low tide! A unique site in Europe, a sunset on the Gois is an exceptional moment… Beautiful pictures are guaranteed!

The passage of the Gois is famous for its richness in clams, cockles and wild oysters, fishing on foot is a tradition ! You can go there by car, and park on the sandbank, but beware of the times and movements of the tides, inform you well before at the billboards present on each side of the passage, each year several tourists leave their car at the sea, surprised by the rise of water!

In June, don’t miss the famous “race against the sea” since 1987, a competition, “les foulées du Gois”, (apart from the event reserved for 30 professional runners) gathers thousands of amateur participants and spectators!
