Very recently classified « National and heritage interest site », the passage du Gois connects the continent to the island of Noirmoutier at low tide! A unique site in Europe, a sunset over the Gois is an exceptional moment… Beautiful photos are guaranteed!
The passage du Gois is famous for its abundant clams, cockles and wild oysters, fishing on foot is a tradition! You can get there by car, and park on the sandbank, but please make sure you’re informed of the tides and their time, be well informed by the panels displayed on each side of the passage, each year some visitors have to abandon their cars to the sea, surprised by the rising waters!
In June, do not miss the famous “race against the sea” since 1987, a competition, “Les Foulées du Gois” (apart from the event reserved for 30 professional runners) brings together thousands of amateur participants and spectators!
